Ask Mark Gannon
This is a unique property with the combination of CRP acres and creek pasture with a good location to Ames, Ankeny and Des Moines. This would be an excellent place to build a home, enjoy nature, raise livestock and farm if you choose. There are several good pond possibilities.
There are a couple good places for possible pond sites in the main creek and tributaries. Many mature trees in the pasture. There is one crossing for vehicles and farm equipment over the railroad tracks near the SW corner. There is a large concrete culvert under the tracks for cattle, people and recreational vehicles but additional tube culverts in the creek for normal water flow.
Located 5 miles SE of Ames on the north side of 270th and 1/2 mile east of R-70. The CRP fields are excellent quality land that was previously cropland but now is in the Pollinator CRP program until 2035. This program could be canceled in part or all by paying a fee to the Farm Service Agency. The land is partially bisected by a railroad tracks on the western portion.
The fences are fair with electric fence in addition to the farm fencing. The pasture is leased until February 28, 2024 with the lease payment to go to the Buyer.
